R.I.P It or Ship It Book Tag

Hello all! This fun tag was created by emmmabooks, please go check out her video on YouTube! And I also read this tag on DreamlandBookBlog, which you can read here. What made me want to give this a try was the hilarious contrast of pairings that emerged from the tag.

But first of all, the rules:

  1. Write down the name of characters from different novels on scraps of paper.
  2. Put them in a container and shuffle them (I used my Harry Potter mug, given to me by one of my bestest friends, Spirit of the East End!)
  3. Pull out two names at a time and show them to the audience in any way you like.
  4. It’s time! Dun Dun Dun! Do I ship them or want their relationship to sink (R.I.P)?

Here are the contestants in my fave mug…

Ready? Let’s go!

Round 1

20180318_121231_resized

Agatha Trunchbull (Matilda) & Cato (Hunger Games)

First thing’s first…age gap! She’s the headmistress and he is sixteen years old! Personality wise, they are both selfish, and they enjoy (take pride) in torturing others, without feeling or showing any remorse. Because they are so similar, and not forgetting the age gap (illegal!), I have to say…..R.I.P IT!

Round 2

20180318_121330_resized

Rose Hathaway (Vampire Academy) & Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)

Every inch of my being is saying…..yes! Two beautiful, intelligent and badass women, are you kidding me? Why not? Hermione is more level-headed and studious than Rose, so I feel like she will influence her in that way. Whereas, Rose is reckless and impulsive so she will release Hermione’s spontaneity. A trait they have in common is protectiveness and loyalty to the friends/ones they love i.e. Hermione staying with Harry when Ron temporarily abandoned them, and Rose being Lissa’s guardian and taking a bullet for her. Overall, I think they’ll balance each other out. So for this pair, I have to say…SHIP IT!

Round 3

20180318_121410_resized

Isaac (The Fault in Our Stars) & Bertha Mason/The Madwoman in the Attic (Jane Eyre)

So…I don’t know…uhhh….no. I honestly don’t see it working. They are both very interesting characters. I sympathize with them, but that’s as far as it goes. Maybe friends?…No. And romantically, I have to say…R.I.P IT!

Round 4

20180318_121454_resized

Draco Malfoy (Harry Potter) & Adrian Ivashkov (Vampire Academy)

Well, this one made me chuckle. Let’s list the similarities: they both come from wealthy and high-ranking backgrounds, their families are condescending and snobbish towards those they deem “lower-class” for example, muggleborns (Draco), and dhampirs (Adrian), they are outspoken and have dealt with some demons. However, Adrian’s selfless, brave, oozes confidence and is incredibly charming, so I imagine him winning over Draco and lowering his ridicules and inhibitions. With everything said, I have to say…SHIP IT!

Round 5

20180318_121548_resized

Queen Tatiana Ivashkov (Vampire Academy) & Harry Wormwood (Matilda)

Well, this is an interesting match. A vampire queen and a human con-man. I see Harry trying to impress Tatiana for personal benefit, however, I doubt she will not care for him, and leave his efforts fruitless. So, I have to say…R.I.P IT!

Round 6

20180318_121613_resized

Wanda (The Host) & Finnick Odair (Hunger Games)

My first reaction to this was…awww! I think it might be cute and can kinda see it. I think it will be a happy and loving relationship. So I have to say…SHIP IT!

 Round 7

20180318_121652_resized

Kiara Westford (Rules of Attraction) & Calpurnia (To Kill A Mockingbird)

Uhhh, perhaps not. Both are undeniably amazing characters, but I cannot ship it. Do not think they are compatible, especially the big age gap i.e. Kiara is a teenager while Calpurnia is a grown woman. I can see potential a mother-daughter relationship, but nothing further. So I have to say…R.I.P IT!

Round 8

20180318_121803_resized

Lord Voldemort (Harry Potter) & Fred Weasley (Harry Potter)

No! No! No! I felt heart drop when I pulled out Fred’s name. Hell, naw! Ain’t happening! This does not require an explanation so I will leave it at…R.I.P IT!

Round 9

20180318_121845_resized

Maggie Armstrong (Leaving Paradise) & Alex Fuentes (Perfect Chemistry)

Interesting, but no.

Fun Fact: These characters were created by the same author, Simone Elkeles, but belong to two different series.

I can’t picture anything romantic growing between the two characters. So I have to say…R.I.P IT!

Round 10

20180318_121915_resized

Atticus Finch (To Kill A Mockingbird) & Bellatrix Lestrange (Harry Potter)

No. While I do hate a love/hate relationship with Bellatrix, there’s no way she can possibly be with sweet, honourable Atticus Finch. You know where I’m going with this? So I have to say…R.I.P IT!

Round 11

20180318_122005_resized

Jace Lightwood (City of Bones) & Dimitri Belikov (Vampire Academy)

Well, isn’t this a dream come true? I believe that they could have a chance because Jace shares some similar traits to Rose (Vampire Academy/Dimitri’s fiancee). Jace and Dimitri and both badass fighters, having been referred to as “the best Shadowhunter ever lived” (Jace) and a “god” (Dimitri). Therefore, I can definitely see them fighting side-by-side as they protect the world from evil vampires and demons….so I have to say…SHIP IT!
