Pink dress. Brown hair. Twinkling green eyes. Big smile. Missing front teeth. Plaster on her elbow.
That’s how they remember her. She stays frozen in their minds. Never growing up. Forever trapped as a five year old.
He could no longer feel the wintry wind blowing against his pale, bare skin. The wet tears that had escaped his eyes felt like they were permanently frozen to his cheeks. His toes were curled inside his worn-down trainers where a hole was forming on the bottom of the right sole.

It is currently Mother’s Day in the UK, so before it strikes midnight, I would like to wish the mummies in the country (including mine!) a happy mothers day and hope that all sons and daughters have gotten in contact during this uncertain and difficult time.
I would also like to wish that you are all well and staying safe during the pandemic. And a huge “thank you” to all the doctors and nurses and key workers for your service.
