Her Last Words

*** WARNING: SENSITIVE CONTENT ***

**Mention of suggested suicide**

They were oblivious that she had decided tonight would be her last night.

They were unaware that the smiles she wore were rehearsed.

They failed to acknowledge that her laugh sounded shallow and held no happiness.

They were not paying enough attention to notice the unusual box of painkillers from inside the bag of a healthy young girl.

They didn’t flinch at her cold touch for it would reflect her body when they find her motionless the following day.

They wouldn’t realise until it was too late and she had left everyone with the same last words.

“I’m all right.”
