I made a mistake.
I shouldn’t have said ‘yes.’
Why didn’t I realise this sooner? Why am I having this revelation now? Why not a year ago or last month or last night?
It’s too late to go back on my word as my left hand is permanently a little heavier than when I entered the church.
“You may kiss the bride.”
My breath hitches in my throat. ‘My god, this is really happening.’
You lift my veil and drape it behind my head and gently cup my face.
No sparks or butterflies fluttering in my stomach. Just formidable horror.
