Eyes Glazed Over

It’s been months since I’ve last seen her eyes sparkle. But that stopped today. Her blue eyes shines brightly as we share another laugh together.

I can’t force myself to look away from her, not the soft crinkles on the corner of her eyes, her long eyelashes or the laugh lines beside her mouth. I gently wipe away a tear from rolling down her cheek. She grips my other hand tighter and squeezes it trice. I love you.

The next morning as I make us breakfast, she shuffles through the kitchen with her eyes glazed over.

The grin fades from my lips.

“Who are you?”
