End of Year Update (2020)

Happy Thursday lovelies!

It would be an understatement to say that 2020 has been a little unusual. I hope that everyone who reads this is in good health and helping to safeguard the health and well-being of themselves and others.

MASSIVE hugs and endless ‘Thank you’s!’ to everyone who has visited, liked, commented and followed my blog these last four years πŸ’— your support has been a huge motivator and has never failed to bring a smile to my face. I love you all!

Below are some of the milestones that have stuck out for me at GiftedandChilling.

1. 180+ Followers

Screenshot – 31st December 2020

This is a truly incredible milestone that I didn’t think would be possible.

I am beyond grateful that many amazing people have chosen to subscribe to my blog and receive notifications every time I publish a new post or piece of flash fiction.

Since starting in 2017, I’ve been balancing on 50 – 60 followers due to my random posts and occasional inactivity, but after my update in March and attempting to publish more regularly, I have been blessed with a steady growth of followers.

2. Connecting with Bloggers

One of the best things about this year has been engaging with the community and getting to connect with such wonderful bloggers!

Tip: Do not stick to your “niche”. Branch out and visit blogs that share different interests – you will benefit from new friendships and valuable insight.

I’ve loved chatting to people across the globe and learning about them and what pushed them to create their blog. In addition, they are a great inspiration for other types of content and articles.

3. Doubled Visitors and Views

Screenshot – 31st December 2020

In 2020, the number of visitors and views to my blog has doubled from when it first launched. It still leaves me baffled to see the stats above as I didn’t dare dream that my blog would receive this much attention and reception. Thank you again, everyone!

I love creative writing and studied it at University which is why the majority of my content is flash fiction. Writing gives me a thrill, especially when trying to execute twists that readers may not see coming.

However, this month I experimented with writing shopping-focused articles which were well-received, I got so much encouragement! 😊 It was a risk but was definitely worth it! I thoroughly enjoyed the process of doing research and trying to find products that would appeal to a wide audience. Therefore, you can expect to see more content like it in 2021.

If you have any requests or preferences for what you would like to see on this blog, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below!

Goals for 2021

1. Create a Schedule

In the upcoming new year, I aim to create a content calendar which will keep me “in-line” for times when I should be writing and determine when I need to post. I’ve used content calendars in my employment and found it really helpful for staying organised and keeping track of small to large volumes of content.

2. Start Daily To-Do Lists

For similar reasons shared above, having a daily routine or to-do list to accomplish will ensure that my mind is less muddled and lessen my anxiety levels. This is both in my personal and professional life.

I will start with setting a minimum of three to five substantial things to do per day, this will range from exercising to mindfulness to charity to writing.

3. Save Money & Invest

My family and boyfriend are planning a holiday for the future i.e. post-lockdown and when there’s less risk of travelling abroad. We want to ensure that it will be completely safe, not only for ourselves but for anyone else we will encounter. Our destination is…The Philippines! πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ We can’t wait to experience more adventures and visit family that we have greatly missed this past year.

Also, I have recently grown interested in investing, and plan to take the first steps into the unknown in the new year. Investing is a liability but when carried out well, it can secure a nest egg for large purchases or retirement.

What are some of your accomplishments this year and are you creating any new year resolutions?

Thank you for reading my end of year update and goals for the upcoming year! I am always on the lookout for new blogs to read, so feel free to leave your blog in the comments below and I’ll happily check it out πŸ™‚
