Greetings lovely people!
I wasn’t tagged to participate but found this on the bayance (LOVE the name!) blog. Check out her answers – I really like her style of writing. The blogger Bay posts health and back to school content and more.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the original creator of this tag π¦ if anyone knows who started it, let me know so I can add their credit.
Given that the UK has entered its second lockdown, I thought this would be a nice activity to keep spirits up, as well as encourage readers to also contemplate the joys in their lives, no matter how big or small.
Rules
- Thank the blogger who tagged you!
- List 15 of your Small Joys (they can be as weird, random, and silly as you want to make them!)
- Tag 5 blogger friends who bring you joy (and feel free to say why they bring you joy!)
- Have fun with it!
Ready? Let’s go!
1. Pecan pies
I just bought one before starting this post and the sweet aftertaste is still present in my mouth. It is a rare treat in my household and was the first thing to come to mind when creating this list. I loovveee the gooeyness and its crunchiness and crumbing pastry…damn, now I want another slice π
It brings back happy memories of simpler times when I used to travel back home from university and come home with a box of pecan pie to share with my parents.
2. Texting
Texting my boyfriend, friends, and family brings me joy. Whether it is to quickly check up on how they are doing or to have full-fledged conversations, I like seeing a Whatsapp message come through.
It is a nice gesture to let someone know that you’re thinking of them.
3. My Dad laughing
My Dad’s a natural joker and likes his practical jokes…I enjoy them too when I’m not the target, the latter being 95% of the time. The other 5% is my Mum.
From the things he says or his mischievous ways, he knows how to cheer someone up when they are feeling down.
His laughter brings me lots of joy because, to me, it’s the signifies of happiness.
4. Reading
It is only recently that I’ve started getting back into the habit of reading regularly again.
There’s nothing like picking up a book and feeling its weight, and the excitement of opening it and continuing where you left off, and just getting lost in the writing and imagery.
5. Flicking through my photos and video gallery
Who doesn’t love going through old happy memories? My phone holds thousands of captured moments with loved ones and I enjoy reminiscing over them.
Sometimes I notice things in the background that I didn’t know was happening at the time or I will stop on a picture and just marvel of how great that person is and appears.
6. Water
Unlike Coyote Ugly’s “Hell no H2O!”, I cannot get enough of it. To me, there’s nothing more satisfying than quenching your thirst with a refreshing drink i.e. when you wake up, after a workout, during a meal, etc.
Common known benefits of drinking water includes flushing out toxins, clears skin complexion, and raises your mood.
7. My Mum’s cuddles
Mama’s hugs are the best. It never fails to feel warm and I cannot help but sink in to it and have a sense of comfort when her arms are wrapped around me.
I have spent more time with her and my Dad these past few months due to lockdown and it has been a blessing. It has given me a whole new level of appreciation for them.
My Mum has been my best friend since birth, and her cuddles in the morning when we watch trashy TV sometimes makes me wish that I could pause time.
8. Walks
I don’t know what it is, but going for a walk first thing in the morning is such a refreshing and fulfilling way to start the day. I’m usually less stressed or anxious afterwards.
9. Blog notifications
It means a lot and brings me so much joy to see that other bloggers enjoy the stories and content I put out, and want to read more.
A huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who reads my content and follows my blog β€οΈ
I appreciate every single person that has stumbled upon it, stayed long enough to read and liked my posts.
10. Cards
Birthday cards, Christmas cards, thank you cards, etc. I think it is a sweet and simple gesture that is always appreciated.
11. When sunshine lights up the room
Not only does it save electricity, but opening the curtains and seeing the clear blue sky from inside my home causes a rush of excitement for the day ahead as well as eager to start my daily tasks.
12. My boyfriend playing with my hair
This little act of affection brings me joy and makes me blush and feel adored. Especially as it is sometimes done subconsciously when we’re seated beside each other watching a film (Borat 2) or series (The Boys or The Mandalorian).
Eventually, I will lean my head on his shoulder and snuggle closer as a sign for him to continue, and he never disappoints.
13. Smiling babies
Yes, this includes with drool and snotty noises hahaha! Seeing babies smile with their eyes sparkling and arms stretched out is enough to melt the iciest heart. They are so pure and you know they are genuinely ecstatic to see you or be held by you.
14. Time slots on deliveries
Oh my god…I cannot describe the strange jolt of happiness I get when I receive an email or text of a delivery confirmation time. Seriously!
I prefer home services that give its customers a shorter and precise delivery time on the day of arrival other than from 8am to 6pm. Last time I checked, the site wasn’t British Gas!
This weirdly brings me joy because I can then plan my day around the delivery time slot i.e. 11 am to 1 pm instead of being forced to wait at home without any proper delivery information.
15. People keeping their distance
Yes, this is related to coronavirus. It is seeing people wear masks and putting a safe-enough distance between them and the people ahead in a store or on the street or on public transport.
Those being conscious of their health as well as others does brings me a sense of joy.
Please have respect and care for the people around you, and even if not, then yourself.
